Now, the difference between DS Nitris and Symphony Nitris (What is now Nitris DX I think) I've never understood.Panasonic Pro AG-HPX170 3CCD P2 High-Definition Camcorder w/13x Optical Zoom (P2 Card Not Included). Most places I've seen it recently (DNxHD enabled or not) it's been running with MC 2.8-3.0, which as you say can handle P2 just fine. It's only when ingesting HD via the optional DNxHD board that it even does any processing.

If your adrenaline box dies, you can use a mojo to get video out or run software only if you only need to cut or output QTs (and the app name in the menu bar will reflect this Media Composer Adrenaline / Media Composer with Avid Mojo / Media Composer). If you start up an Adrenaline system without switching the box on you're running MC. It's just a more pro version of a mojo and works with the exact same software. Shane, the Adrenaline is basically just a BOB (albeit a very expensive one).
I know that Avid MC 2.8 and 3.0 does.I am using that now. I am very unsure if Adrenaline even handles P2 in it's native format. Thanks again, I'll check back in a bit, then close the thread.Īvid Adrenaline and P2.not sure how that would work. I'm not up to date with current versions out there. Last Avid I worked on was Media Composer and NewsCutter, quite a few years ago. Shane - the post house is on DS Nitris.I'm guessing that's different than Adrenaline.?.?. I'd like to make the process as seamless as possible, given that we're working cross-format and cross-platform, to some degree or another. I'd seen some of the workarounds while researching all this.which is what prompted my query in the first place. The post house just told me that the Nitris is fully up to date. JS - the Firestore FS100 will record DVCProHD, among other formats.like the Avid OMF and Quicktime P2. It basically sounds like recording P2 Native and handing off the card or copying all card contents to an external will be the best route. They'll have a producer here for the actual shoot next Monday and he can take the media back with him. The post house is in another city, so dropping off a P2 or external is problematic for testing.

We were hoping to shoot some test clips tomorrow, then upload to our website or an ftp site for them to download and test, prior to the shoot.įor testing, I'm thinking uploading to ftp might be best, especially if I'm needing to upload entire P2 folder/file structure.
We can shoot native P2 (and hope their system is fully up to date.they say it is). I should mention that we just received the Panasonic cameras and are still on our own learning curve regarding their capabilities. Would I need to convert the P2 media (or Firestore media) to a specific format that will work in the Avid? Will they need a card reader or other hardware for the P2 card? Might we be able to expect to record to P2 directly at DVCProHD/24p and the post house be able to use this natively in their Avid Nitris? Into the Firestore, using AvidOMF, Quicktime 24 and Quicktime.Ĭan anyone suggest the better alternative? i.e. In the meantime, I'd like to shoot some test clips, to make sure we can provide recorded media from the Panasonic 170 and make the process of delivering compatible media as seamless as possible for them.įor testing, I would shoot the following: I'm waiting to get complete system specs from them.

The post house we are to provide the footage to, generally edits HDCam from Sony CineAlta F900HD, on a PC based Avid DS Nitris, with Windows XP. We would shoot with a Panasonic AG-HPX170 and can record on either a P2 card or Firestore FS-100-160. We've been asked to shoot a brief interview segment for an outside production company. I could use clarification on the following workflow. I've searched several forums and have a relatively good idea of solutions, but I currently work on Mac/FCP and haven't been on an Avid since 2000. I just posted this at the Cow/Avid forum, but figured FCP/P2 users here may have some advice as well.
